Why "Pura Vida" and what does it mean?

Pura Vida. Pronounced POO-rah VEE-dah, in English means, "Pure Life".

However, these two words have much more meaning...

Pura Vida means that no matter what your current situation is, life for someone else can always be less fortunate than your own. It means living a peaceful, simple, uncluttered life with a deep appreciation for nature, family and friends.

We are all here together and life is short...so start living a Pura Vida life!.

About Cottonwood AZ...

Located at the confluence of two rivers in the Verde Valley, Cottonwood offers a rare riparian area and the perfect climate to produce some of the country’s finest wines. Top AZ winemaker Sam Pillsbury, and famous rock star winemaker Maynard Keenan, have selected bustling Old Town to offer their Vinifera bounties.

Alongside Maynard’s Merkin Vineyards & Osteria and Pillsbury Wine Company North, you will find award-winners Arizona Stronghold Vineyards and Burning Tree Cellars, plus the new Winery 101 and Carlson Creek Vineyards. Explore their eclectic tasting rooms, most offering weekend live music. Just out of town, Chateau Tumbleweed, Alcantara Vineyards, Page Springs Cellars, Oak Creek and Javelina Leap, make Cottonwood week-long-stay worthy.

The Center of Northern Arizona

Cottonwood is the midpoint between Sedona and Jerome, Prescott and Flagstaff, Phoenix SkyHarbor Airport and the Grand Canyon, and at only four hours: Vegas and Mexico — offering easy access to all. We are at the center of the Verde Valley, the heart of Arizona and AZ Wine Country.

Annual events include Thunder Valley Rally, Walkin’ On Main, the Birding & Nature Festival, VIP Wine, Chocolate & Art Walks and more. Experience these events in breathtaking scenery as Cottonwood is nestled amongst Native American Indian monuments, Mingus Mountain, Mogollon Rim and state and national parks. There is truly something for everyone.

Alongside our decadent wines, we also offer a range of activities to enjoy. Our thriving Historic District is chock-full of boutique hotels, gourmet restaurants, unique shops, antiques and galleries. Cultivate an interest in sipping, shopping, staying and playing in the best the Verde Valley has to offer!

Indulge your senses with neighboring Verde Canyon Railroad, Out of Africa Wildlife Park, kayak adventures, Blazin’M Chuckwagon Dinner Show, Copper Art Museum, frisbee golf, trail rides and off-road tours. There is also a range of trails for hiking, biking and strolling.

The Quintessential Main Street USA

Feeling too ‘big town’? Come into Old Town on a Sunday and enjoy your coffee in an open courtyard. Sit by the fountain at COLT 804, at the Red Rooster for Open Mic or in the hip Crema, as locals mingle and fresh drinks are poured. Shoot some hoops next to Cottonwood Community Clubhouse, a river-rock gem listed on the National Historic Registry. Relax your Thursday sunsets away during the Farmer’s Market and Jamboree. Hike straight from Main Street onto the Jail Trail and make your way to Dead Horse Ranch State Park.

There are so many ways to “Come Sip, Shop, Stay and Play in the Heart of the Verde Valley!.” We invite you to come for a week, but won’t blame you if you stay for a lifetime.
